How to get the most out of my Doctor visit

Before and During my visit:

  • Write down the 3 most important things you want to discuss

  • Report new symptoms

  • Bring a list of all medications including overt-the-counter, vitamins, and herbs.

  • Ask the Doctor to explain things that are not clear.

  • Bring a relative or friend with me.

  • Ask the Doctor to stop when I don’t understand something.

  • Ask where I can find more information or if there are pamphlets, classes, or videos.

  • Speak openly and honestly with Doctors.

At the end of my visit, ask:

  • When should I come back?

  • How do I get my test results?

  • What warning signs and symptoms should I be looking for?

  • Where can I find moire information?

  • Will you be sending me to a specialist?
